Farewell, Twitter QuickBar, although it has to be said, you probably won’t be missed by many people, especially those who gave you a naughty name and campaigned for your removal. Yes, today Twitter announced the news of the demise of the QuickBar via a hilariously titled blog post called “So a bar walks into an app…” Nice to see that they have a sense of humour about the whole thing, and also nice to see that they are prepared to listen to their public. Just to recap if you’re new to the whole QuickBar furore, Twitter issued an update to its iPhone app a few weeks ago which introduced a trending-topics QuickBar at the top of the screen which sometimes carried “Promoted” topics, and couldn’t be removed. It proved incredibly unpopular with Twitter users, who even gave it a naughty nickname, and it never actually made it onto the iPad app. Now Twitter has finally killed it off today for good with a new update that removes it. Once you install the latest Twitter for iPhone update, QuickBar will not dare to darken your timeline again.
