Does anyone know if apple does trade ins on iPhone 4S to get an iPhone 5?

Depends on the condition. If it's like new, you can get at least $200 from a Verizon Wireless Trade-In, assuming it's working, and there aren't any screen cracks. Sprint ones can go for a little more, about 220 or 230. This is only for the 16GB though. The increments above that isn't a lot. About 10-20$ additional per stage of storage upgrade. IE 200 for 16, about 210-220 for 32, 220-240 for a 64.

You'll get about 200-230 for it. You'd probably have to bring it to a store to get a real estimate or a more accurate amount.

Verizon gave me $230 for mine in a Verizon gift card which I used for my phone and my account.

The trade-in only works with Verizon devices, meaning you can only use the money on another Verizon device.
