Texting - to another iphone

yes you can,you can use iMessage.

Yes, as Ivy mentioned you can use iMessage over Wifi. Both iDevices you wish to iMessage w/ must be running iOS 5.0 or higher.

Nope... if you're iDevice is on iOS 5.0 or highter then all you need to do is make sure it's turned on in your Message settings.

iMessages will send in a Blue bubble... while standard SMS/MMS will send in a Green bubble.

No. The hardware doesn't matter. You can use an iPad or even an iPod touch. It's the OS that's important, as has already been stated. Both users must be using iOS5 or later.

If you go to settings app and click on messages, there should be an option for iMessage
