System transfer

After switching from the 7 to the 8 max l was able to use the cloud and WiFi and all the data was transferred. My iPhone 5s was updated yesterday to 12.5.1.
My question is would l have the possibility to download the apps from the 8max to 5s those that are available l think. Or is it simpler to get them from the App Store

You can’t directly transfer apps from one iPhone to another. If the newer iPhone has a later version of iOS than the older iPhone you. Can’t use a backup from the newer iPhone to restore the older iPhone. BTW, backups do not contain the apps themselves, only the app data. The apps are downloaded from the App Store during the set up process.
