Switching off answerphone

I was expecting a call to tell me an item was ready to be collected. It never came, called the company.
They said that they left a message on my answerphone.
Questions are, how do I switch it off? Didn't know I had one. How do I find it? Check google ##2002# l think that didn't help.

This is a service usually offered by your telephone company, some offer a voice message service, others offer an SMS service. If it is a voice message you must dial a number that they will give you to access your messages, if SMS it will simply appear in your message app.

Thanks for that, seems l need to contact them.
Got my bill the other day and there was a charge that I have never seen before. 4x Mehrwert sms = €1,80
or near that amount. All my sms messages should be free and calls also. Think l'm in the dark somewhere.
