Phone is not jailbroken. While doing the latest iOS update iTunes suddenly encountered an error and said that it had to shut down. When I restarted iTunes it now says that it's detected an iPhone in Recovery Mode and that I have to restore the phone to use it in iTunes. The phone screen shows a black background with a blue iTunes logo and a graphic of the charging cable, with an arrow pointing to the logo, indicating that it needs to be connected to iTunes. I don't want to lose everything that's on the phone, including all my settings. I did do a backup before starting the update. I need to know just where I am right now. Do I have any options other than to do a recovery? Will I be able to restore from a backup once that's done? Any explanations and help will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Nevermind. Once that I discovered I would get the opportunity to restore from backup after the recovery, I went ahead with it. I love my iPhone. I hate iTunes. Thanks anyway.
