Last week we saw a long-awaited release of Reddit: The Official App on the App Store. While The Official App for the social news website is still live, a small clause in Apple's App Review Guidelines seems to have caused third-party Reddit apps to be taken down from the App Store.

On Tuesday, apps like Narwhal, iAlien, Baconreader and more have gone MIA in the App Store. This is due clause 18.2, which states apps containing "frequently pornographic" user-generated content will be rejected.

The good news is iMore dug deeper into the story and the apps will come back to the App Store soon. Before that can happen, developers of third-party Reddit apps will need to remove "Not Safe For Work" toggles within them. Third-party Reddit apps will now need to rely on the user's preferences on the site for filtering explicit content.
