Shortcut to calling contacts

On my old BB i could assign a letter for specific contacts and it would auto dial the number, is this option available on the iphone 4s?

Your shortest method for dialing contacts w/ your 4S will be assigning contacts to the "Favorites" list within your Phone.app. When in the Phone.app... it's the farthest left in your options at the bottom. Just be sure you have the Favorites window open when you close the Phone.app and it'll be the first to come back up.
