My phone in the middle of a call decided to have a half shaded screen. Still works but is hard to look at. Help!

It's possible that the backlight has partially failed. If so, it would require a screen replacement. You could have it checked out at an Apple Store Genius Bar to have confirmed. When you rotate the phone to landscape mode, does the shaded portion remain stationary or does it rotate? If it stays stationary it's an indication of a probable hardware problem.
