Separate music lists for two devices?

I have an iPhone 4s and an iPod 5 (I think it is). Is it possible to use iTunes to send different sets of music selections to each of these. For instance could I use one of them for classical music and the other for show tunes?

You can create separate libraries for each device in iTunes. Here's a little "tut" from Apple

You can choose to only copy certain genres/playlists/artists/... to a device. I guess you can make a selection and 'divide' your library over your two devices like this.

Playlists are great for this because they remain in iTunes ready to reinstall to a new device if you lose or upgrade yours.
