Very moving. It really makes one realize how deadly war can be when a village can lose so many of its best young men.
During World War II way more than from 1914 - 1918. The plaque in the middle is for WW I, while the ones to the left and right show missing and fallen persons from WW II. A few of them were my relatives, one of the missing soldiers was my maternal grandfather.

Will you harvest many chestnuts this fall?
We have a few chestnut trees in my village, the chestnuts in my district are inedible. Children use them to make small chestnut animals or chains.
Maybe I posted the wrong expression: it's a horse chestnut candle with a bumblebee. Sorry!

The tower was built to take a look at Lake Neusiedl and the national park from a higher observation point. That's it's only purpose, it wasn't built for anything else.
