NYT supports rumours of embedded Home button in 2017 iPhone.JPG

9to5 Mac reports that a brief comment in the New York Times has lent support to recent rumours that the 2017 iPhone will have a virtual Home Button embedded in the display.

While similar rumours have been around for some time, including from Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times has now weighed in on the debate with the following:

“Apple is likely to continue making iPhones without headphone jacks, and next year’s iPhone will have a full-screen face with the virtual button built directly into the screen, according to two people at the company who spoke on condition of anonymity because the product details are private.”

The touch-sensitive Home button on the iPhone 7 is thought to be midway between the previous, physical Home button and next year’s revolutionary design, which is expected to be incorporated within an OLED display, which will be featured on an iPhone for the first time.

I'm wondering how such an embedded home button will work when the screen is off.
