Cydia has just released yet another friendly tweak thanks to which users can add nicknames to the people in their iPhone contacts. So instead of displaying the usual Caller ID with name and surname the tweak will enable the use of the nickname instead. You can replace contact names with the nicknames in Incoming & outgoing calls, Favorites, New message alerts, Message thread list or in a message thread.

The real name remains in the Info sector so that you don’t risk forgetting the person’s name. Also, by using Nickname, users experience a very easy way to organize their contact list, instead of just mixing real names with nicknames.

In the tweak, the nickname goes exactly below the real name of the contact and if you don’t fill out the field, the program will use only that information. This comes in handy as not all people have nicknames. The tweak is useful for those who are extremely fond of privacy and are paranoid about being watched. By using the nickname all over ones iOS users can ensure that no one knows who they are talking to. It also is a fun addition especially for the youngest sector of the population.

To get Nickname 1.0. users will have to head over to Cydia via the BigBoss Repo and pay $0.99. Users also have to have iOS 5 in order for the tweak to work.
