It’s now looking more and more likely that the iPhone 6s will have a 12 MP camera, with several rumours to that effect from reliable sources surfacing over the past few weeks.

AppleInsider follows up on the rumours today with a new rumour from IHS China chief executive Kevin Wong, who has posted on his Sina Weibo site that his sources have told him that the forthcoming iPhone 6s will indeed have a 12-megapixel camera, but that it will have smaller pixels.

Having larger pixels means better low-light images with less noise, but Apple may well have a way for compensating for losing such benefits due to using smaller pixels, such as changing the size of the image sensor and/or other components.

This report follows on from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s claims earlier in the week that the iPhone 6s will have a 12 MP camera, although Kuo did not mention anything about Apple using smaller pixels to achieve this.
