New Pokémon Are Here, Including a Festive Pikachu!

Niantic made its big Pokémon Go announcement today, revealing that Professor Willow has discovered baby Pokémon Togepi and Pichu hatching from Eggs, which is where you can expect to find them too, starting from today. Niantic says that Trainers can also expect to find other Gen 2 Pokémon as well as Togepi and Pichu when they hatch Eggs, but it hasn’t revealed any more names as yet. Generation 2 Pokémon were originally discovered in the Johto Region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games.

Niantic says that it will also be releasing many other new Pokémon over the next few months, presumably also from Gen 2. I like the fact that they are not releasing all the Gen 2 immediately, as a lot of people are still a long way off collecting the Gen 1 Pokémon.

Niantic also announced another surprise for the fans, namely limited edition Pikachu wearing a festive hat, which can be found in the wild all over the world. The holiday Pikachu will be available until December 29, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. PST.
