More pictures of space black iPhone 7.JPG

BGR writes that according to newly leaked images from Twitter user The Malignant, there will be a Space Black colour option for the iPhone 7. The leaked images show not only a rear casing from the phone, but also a Space Black mute button and SIM card tray.

The Malignant also tweeted that the iPhone 7 will not have Corning’s newly announced Gorilla Glass 5 for its display. This is hardly surprising, as Gorilla Glass 5 displays were only announced three weeks or so ago, although when it announced Gorilla Glass 5, Corning did say that it will be used on phones “from leading global brands later this year,” without specifying which brands.

Corning has stated that Gorilla Glass 5 is four times as resilient as Gorilla Glass 4, and much less likely to crack or shatter when dropped from around 5.9 feet.

While Apple never officially comments on what components are used in its devices, it’s widely known that it has used Corning glass in every iPhone since the first one. However, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus both have markedly tougher and more resilient screens than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (which used Gorilla Glass 3), which are thought to be made of a special glass made by Corning exclusively for Apple in collaboration with Apple engineers. It’s possible that the iPhone 7 will be using a similar exclusive type of Corning glass, or maybe even the same, as it has been so effective for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
