The Consumer Electronics Show, the 2013 edition, is almost up, so companies are starting to tease the industry with glimpses of what they might find at the exhibition. Corning is one example, who just announced it was putting out a new, stronger and more resilient Gorilla Glass.

Corning made the official announcement saying that the third generation Gorilla Glass will be unleashed in one week at the CES. They added that the new technology will feature “a new glass composition with durability enhancements” so owners of tablets, smartphones or laptops can stop worrying about dropping their precious objects. And we're also talking about iPads and iPhones here.

Wendel P. Weeks, chairman, chief executive officer and presidents stated:

“This year at CES, Corning will demonstrate its industry leadership in specialty glass and fiber optic technologies with the introduction of two products designed to enhance and extend the capabilities of consumers’ favorite devices.”

The Gorilla Glass 3 has been highly improved at the molecular level with the addition of a futuristic technology called Native Damage Resistance (NDR) which will add a 50% strength ratio. If you are curious about finding more details, then we suggest you keep your eye on the Gorilla glass on January the 7th as the producer company has announced it will film a durability video.

Those who will be visiting CES, will have the opportunity to hear experts talk about the properties of the Gorilla Glass in the Corning booth as well as the features of their Optical Cables.

Oh now that is sweet. When Corning's pulling all the stops, all stops are being pulled.

I would hope not. Gorilla Glass 3 is what the Galaxy S3 uses and that crap breaks the screen and LCD touch with just a finger flick. (exaggerating the pressure, but concept given). My iphone's have all been treated well and when they do drop, never had a sign of breaking. The S3 on the other hand destroyed itself with one drop from a couch.
