MMS possible with no service activation???

I upgraded to iphone5, so gave my daughter old iPhone4. She is young so fo not want her to have a service plan to make calls and such. but she can still use the apps, take pics etc. the main reason is that we do not live close to family, and she likes to text her grandparents etc, but they don't all have iPhone to use iMessage. I have looked into the free apps, but she can not receive pics, and I do not really like the set up. Does anyone know of a way that you can easily text/mms using wifi. Is it possible on a jailbroken phone?

Skype works fine with me. No cellular signal here. Only wifi. I can not only text and mms but also speak. And it's free.

If you have wifi it'll work. But you'll need a middle man

But with Skype you can only send msgs to other Skype users correct?

For a small payment you can call any telephone number too. But yes calls and messages from Skype to Skype are free.

That goes with all services, even WhatsApp and such.
