Security enthusiasts are always making passwords longer and more difficult to be cracked. The result of this is keeping your information safe, while taking longer to type in and remember the password.

MacID is a new app for iPhone, which allows users to unlock their iMacs or MacBooks using the iPhone or iPad Touch ID feature. The Mac companion app is free from developer Kane Cheshire's website and runs in the background, booting when the computer boots. After everything is set up, unlocking the Mac is a simple matter of launching MacID, choosing the computer the user wishes to unlock, and tapping on the Touch ID sensor.

The app also adds an extra feature, just in case the user is not near his or her iPhone, allowing the Mac to be unlocked using a pattern of finger taps on the Magic Trackpad. MacID can be found in the iTunes App Store for $3.99.
