Lost camera option

I upgraded my iphone4 to the new OS5. Initially I had the quick camera button on the lock screen but now it's not there.
Did the software change or did I do something wrong.
Also is anyone else experiencing slow responses with the new OS. My phone seems slower.

For iOS 5, you have to double-tap the home button while the device is asleep to bring up the camera button and audio controls.
