No matter what times we’re living in, Apple’s iPhone seem to be very capable of withstanding the test of time and endurance. A new report coming from comScore paints the same picture we have been accustomed ever since the iPhone was released. Apple has gained the number one position as first smartphone vendor of the nation (U.S). The survey covered data ranging from December to February.

According to the information provided by comScore, Apple managed to snatch 38.9% out of the total smartphone market, growing with over 3.9 percents since the company’s last report. Apple’s fiercest competitor, Samsung, comes in at number two with just 21.3%. Samsung experienced a brief beefing up of percents from the previous 20.3%. On the other side of the battle, companies like HTC, Motorola and LG didn’t fare out so well, all experiencing a fall.

It will be interesting to see the results of the next comScore report, as Samsung has just released its Galaxy S4 smartphone. Will the numbers be influenced by the launch?

The report also covers marketshare numbers in terms of operating systems. Here the roles are reversed, as Android manages to reign with 51.7% marketshare. This result can be easily explained, since Android is widely spread across different smartphone and tablets branded by different companies. Apple is just Apple. On the second place, we find the iOS with 38.9%. The Apple operating system has spread drastically, with percents going up with 3.9% compared to the last report.
