It’s the big July 4th holiday weekend in the U.S. this weekend, so lots of games companies are celebrating with sales in the App Store. Two of the best are probably Gameloft and EA.

EA has dropped the price of almost 50 of its games to $0.99, in what it’s calling its “biggest sale ever”. That price is across the board too, for both iPhone and iPad games. They really do have something for every taste, including perennial favourites such as Scrabble, SimCity Deluxe, NBA Jam, Tetris, Command & Conquer Red Alert, and Dead Space. And everyone gets to benefit, it’s not just for gamers in the US!

Gameloft’s sale is a little more modest, with just six games available for $0.99 each, but what great games they are, quality not quantity! N.O.V.A 2: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance seems to be the one that everybody is going for on iPad as it’s quickly jumped to the top of the charts, but you can also pick up the likes of Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, and Dungeon Hunter 2. Both iPad and iPhone versions of all the games are available for $0.99.

Other games on sale this week include Adult Swim’s Robot Unicorn Attack, and Speedball 2 Evolution, both of which are going for $0.99, whereas Trucks and Skulls NITRO will actually be completely free to download this weekend. Basically it’s a good idea to keep checking the App Store over the weekend, you never know what you’ll find on sale!
