I bought a song off iTunes which was 99c on US site, so I get directed to the AU site and the price becomes $1.69. What a rip-off when US$1=AU$0.99. What's going on here?

This happens in the UK a lot, not specifically Apple but say a games consul in the US is $199.00 and £199.00 here
Amazon is sellling the same song for US$0.99, but when I tried to finalise the transaction: Sorry Amazon sells to US only. I will have to do some research, there must be other sites which sells MP3s a lot cheaper.
