How do you have 9 hours!?
What did you turn off?

I have location services on for the following:

Safari
Chrome
Google maps
Apple maps
The weather channel max

I have WiFi set on, but "Ask to Join Networks" off. Bluetooth stays off most of the time. I have brightness set to 50% by preference, and I have my emails set to push.

I also never remove apps from the task switcher... I don't feel the need to. iOS automagically knocks something out of memory if necessary.

That's it really. Oh! My carrier is Verizon. I always have a good signal with them where ever I go in my location.

I never really understood why folks say the iPhone 5 has terrible battery life. Mines been spectacular. I can understand if someone had an abysmal signal and left their screen brightness to a blinding 100%, but that's really the only reason I can see why it'd be bad. The iPhone 5 definitely destroys my old iPhone 4 in battery life!

What's your battery life look like? :)

Diagnostic data send to Apple? Is yours on at "automatically send"? Is it a battery drainer?

Mine is set to "On".

Doesn't seem to have a negative impact on my battery life.

Oh, I forgot to mention my typical usage.

20 something daily texts
10-15 daily iMessages.
1-2 MMS daily

About 30 minutes to an hour of talk time, 3-4 hours Internet/tapatalk usage, and maybe an hour of music through the stock music player.

That's about a rough estimate of my daily usage in depth. Not intended to be 100% accurate btw! Lol!! :D

Sorry for bothering. I got 4s, my wife and daughter 5. All settings same. My usage about 12% per hour, my wife same (although she's using facebook a LOT and I'm not using it - I think facebook off on her side can use a lot less battery), but my daughter is about at 17% to 20% per hour. Can it be the music she's always listening to and, I think the main culprit... brightness on automatic, and she's sitting OUTSIDE and play on phone, like sms etc etc.? Am I right if I say that the automatic brightness is setting the brightness to maximum and that can be the culprit?

The brightness compensating for the sunlight outside could be the culprit, or she's using one of the built in equalizer's within the music app. I know those take a toll on battery as well. At least Apple claims the equalizer's eat more battery. The screen adjusting to full brightness outside is probably the main culprit though.

I can't speak for the FaceBook app (I don't have a Facebook account).

It's quite alright! Glad I could help. :)

Stock music. And equalizer off. But I am sure it's the brightness. If I'm sitting in the "sun room" and play with my phone, my usage increases a lot...I like watching the bar moving to maximum automatically..lol. All apps are stock on the phones, except for my ABSA bank and Vodacom app. O, and accuweather. My stockweather is not updating Johannesburg, Gauteng, south Africa, and I already reported it to yahoo and the weather channel (lol, although all response from them looked like default automatics). My daughter roughly same. All these same for all three phones. But, in my opinion, people are making too much of battery drain. Once a month I let it run till dead, and charge to 100%. The rest of the month I just put it on the charger at night while going to sleep, and it lasts a full day for me and my wife without any hassles (although, my wife is bragging, cause she is charging only every second day! She's at home and not using as much as me, and lately her % per hour is less than my 4s). Thanks anyway. I appreciate.

You should probably carry a spare car charger! I found a great deal that's going to expire in less than 3 hours on accessorygeeks.com on their daily deals page. It's $4.99 with free shipping. That definitely helps me with my iPhone. Lowering the screen brightness should also help.

Wow. When I have the setting that you have on, my battery drains and I only get 3 or 4 hours on my phone until it dies on me.

Not bad

Something's not right. I keep my brightness at 90% always, leave wifi and locations on always and get way better battery life. I have verizon so I'm always in LTE mode. I basically charge every other day

I have Verizon and I average about charges every other day..... If I run more apps and listen more music, maybe more often... Running 6.1 the lady has the current software and it drains her battery like crazy
