Is there a hole behind the apple logo?

I have a white iPhone 4S and when I hold it just right there appears to be a darkened circle behind the apple logo on the back of the device. Is there a hole under the glass behind the apple logo on the back of the phone? Kinda looks like Apple wanted a light behind the apple logo and changed their minds at the last moment.

Ah hah, it looks like that was Apple's intention. Quite a nice modification, I wish Apple had followed through with that. The only downside I can think of would be battery drain, which could be why it wasn't implemented.
