Drainage is aimed towards software more than firmware. Incompatibilities is probably the number 1 cause of battery drain in most cases.

But I didn't install any new apps. And the only apps running in the background were safari, email, music and ipf.

Was your device upgraded OTA or via iTunes/PC utility.

Get syslog on your device and see what's going on. There might be something looping in your device.

Thanks for the replies. I shall do this as soon as I get home and have access to iTunes again. (At present I am at work and the App Store is blocked).

OTA I'm afraid. Didn't have the bandwidth for the full ipsw.

Once you get the chance, perform a fresh DFU restore while you still can before iOS 6.1.3 is pushed out. That may fix your issue.

Thanks! That is what I shall do. Thing is I am stuck in the boondocks for another month. 6.1.3 will surely be released by then!

Well it's still on Beta 2. If we're seeing another repeat for iOS 6.1's beta, where it racked up to 4 (5 including the little trolling Apple did), you should be fine within a month's time.
