Iphone - copy data when not on?

Hi there,

I left my iphone overseas and plan to have it delivered back to me. I would like to check if it is possible that someone could access the data - contacts, documents etc- whilst the phone is switched off via connecting it to a pc and syncing data on itunes? Would it be possible if the phone is on but the screen is locked (passcode)?

No you need the passcode to be removed for syncing to take place...

I tried and i can sync my phone to itunes when the pass code is locked though. It started suncing when i connected ttthe cable. Would that be because the iTunes is specific for my phone?
