According to a new report in Digitimes, via 9to5 Mac, and following on from Benjamin Geskin’s similar comments earlier in the week, production of Apple’s iPhone 8 and iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus is now underway.

The Digitimes source says that both models of iPhone 7s as well as the iPhone 8 will have reinforced glass chassis. The iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will both have aluminium frames and the iPhone 8 will have a stainless steel frame.

According to the source, the 7s models look very similar to the iPhone 7 models, right down to same bezel, same screen size and overall look. The only change is the switch from aluminium chassis to reinforced glass, most likely to facilitate wireless/inductive charging. Despite not looking that different from the current iPhone 7 models, the internal components of the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will be upgraded in terms of performance.

Samsung is said to be supplying 80 million OLED panels for the iPhone 8 this year.
