iPhone 6S and 6S Plus Issue Keeps it From Updating Battery Percentage Properly; Apple Investigating

According to several reports, there are numerous users experiencing a mildly irritating issue with their new iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus. Apparently, a smattering of owners are finding that their device does not update its battery percentage properly. Basically, the battery is still draining, but the battery percentage indicator doesn't change periodically to reflect.

Apple has responded to the issue and is investigating. The prevailing theory from Apple engineers is that it is related to time zone and/or clock settings somehow. Here's a quote directly from Apple detailing the problem and the temp fix,

If you change the time on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus manually or change time zones when traveling, you might notice that the battery percentage doesn't update. Learn what to do.

Follow these steps:
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure that Set Automatically is turned on. Learn more about the date and time on your device.
If this happens again and you didn't change the time or time zone on your device, contact Apple Support.

Apple is aware of this issue and is investigating the cause and a solution.

At least Apple is working on the problem, and it sounds like it shouldn't affect too many folks. Sound off in the thread if you are one of the unlucky few experiencing this issue.
