iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Benchmarks Beat the Opposition

9to5 Mac reports today on a series of benchmark tests carried out on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus by AnandTech, which reveal some impressive results for Apple’s two new iPhones.

For starters, AnandTech reported that the new A8 chip had a 13% performance increase in its SunSpider benchmark, and other significant increases in GPU performance prompted AnandTech to say that the A8 chip has “a pretty solid lead over the competition.”

And as 9to5 Mac notes, despite the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus being thinner than other previous iPhones, they still perform very well when it comes to battery life benchmarks when the amount of hardware in the phones is taken into consideration.

“Normally an 1810 mAh battery with 3.82V nominal voltage would be quite a poor performer, but the iPhone 6 is a step above just about every other Android smartphone on the market,” said AnandTech in its report. “The iPhone 6 Plus also has a strong showing, although not quite delivering outrageous levels of battery life the way the Ascend Mate 2 does.”
