iPhone 5 Won't Play Music Through Car With Bluetooth

I have a iPhone 5 with iOS 10.1.1. I have about a hundred songs on it that play fine through the phone but won't play in my car even though my car has Bluetooth and I receive phone calls perfectly in my car. I also have a couple of apps (pitch pipe, for example) that play find on the phone but again, won't play in my car. Do I have a setting missing somewhere? Thank you very much for your help.

Is your volume turned up in the Music app when you are connected to Bluetooth? Bluetooth volume is independent of speaker volume.

I just bought a car last month and the bluetooth has an option when pairing to allow phone calls only, music playback only, or both. Make sure you've paired correctly and allowed all playback.

In my work truck my phone can be paired which allows me to send and receive calls, but I have to tell it to connect to a Bluetooth audio source to listen to music.
See if there is anything in the owners manual for the car
