9to5 Mac leads today with a picture of what is purported to be an iPhone 5 running on the China Mobile network. Is it genuine? Well its hard to know for sure, of course, but 9to5 Mac has spotted some telltale clues, such as the fact that the phone has nothing but a string of zeros instead of an IMEI number, which was also the case with the iPhone 4 prototype that just turned up on Ebay, and according to 9to5 Mac, evaluation devices do not usually have IMEI numbers, so maybe this is also an official Apple evaluation device. The phone is also running baseband software version number 06.10.01, which is as yet unreleased. If this really is the real deal, it would also represent confirmation that China Mobile, which currently does not carry the iPhone, will soon be getting the iPhone! 9to5 Mac notes that China Mobile is the worlds largest phone carrier with over 610 million subscribers.
