Is there a thread I can post in that as soon as a jailbreak becomes available for this phone/firmware I can get notified, or do I just have to keep watching the forum in general to see?

You'd have to subscribe to the hacking tutorial subforum. Or you'll have to follow the dev-team members on Twitter like planetbeing.
