Iphone 4 digitizer non responsive in parts of the screen???

Hey everyone I was not sure where to post this, I'm a long time iPhone user ( ever since the 2g) so I'm used to apps and settings, jail breaking and all that stuff.

Here is my problem, my wife got her iPhone 2010 and a week after having it smashed the screen, so I took it to a local phone shop and they charged me 100 quid to replace the entire screen (LCD, glass and digitiser in one piece) everything worked fine on her phone until now..........

Parts of the screen are totally non responsive so I can't even unlock it and do a back up, there is no damage what so ever to the LCD or glass and it has not been dropped recently, has anyone ever heard of this happening? Is there any way it could be a software problem ? It's on 5.0.1 untethered JB or do you think I need to get the screen replaced again ?

Or could it be a loose cable inside ?

I just want to hear if anyone else has heard of this problem

Doesnt sound like a software issue, Is this store reputable? Are they authorized Apple service? Because i have heard my share of local phone shop horrors in regards to the iphone repairs.

Sounds like a faulty replacement part to me. I doubt that a loose cable would be the cause. The digitizer is connected to the mainboard with a single ribbon cable, it's either connected or it's not.

Hi thanks for your replies I have just been quoted 70 quid for an original screen and replacement is that a good price ?

That's about normal if you want to have a professional do it, however, it's not a very hard replacement if you wanted to attempt to do it yourself, you can get the part for about 30 quid.
