iphone 3gs stuck in recovery mode

i purchased an iphone 3gs, stuck in recovery mode(purchased like this) so i dont know any of the details.apart from when i go in tiny umbrella its got 4.2 and 5.0 software,can this be fixed? even if it was on 5.0, id prefer to have 4.2 if any.

You should provide more detail also if it's stuck in recovery mode it might be bricked like mine was 2 new ipod touch wont boot or even restore but your best bet is to exchange it at the apple store or try restoring it and see if it works if not it's maybe a factory fault and u will need to get is replaced asap
