I have an Iphone 2G that I put on the shelf for the past two years as I have been using the Iphone 4.
My friend is using GoPhone service by AT&T and I let him know he could put his sim in the Iphone and keep the Phone + Ipod stuff, but no Edge service.
Obviously I don't want all my contacts, photos, music etc left on the phone when I give it too him,...
The Problem:
1) I turned on the phone and all my old information was still in it, so I clicked the Erase All feature in the Settings.
2) the Phone turned into a brick asking me to plug it in to Itunes.
3) I plugged it into Itunes and It would not be recognized, so I did the master reset by forcing firmware update
4) It updated to the latest software durring restore, however it didn't unbrick it self.
5) I tried downloading some of the cracking software but I couldn't get it to work, nothing seems to recognize the old Iphone software anymore.
Some of the research I read said this phone should not have Bricked it self when I clicked the button,.
so...
How to I unlock this phone so I can use it as an IPOD again or is it just a digital paperweight?
Note: this phone is not supported by apple anymore because its about 4 years old, apple still carries all the software however for immediate download, but charges for customer support by incident.
If someone has had this problem in the past, can you explain what you did?
Thanks,
Michael
