If you have reset your iPhone to factory settings, your photos will no longer be on the phone. That is why you need to back them up. Maybe you have them in iCloud?

I didn’t use iCloud for first 6 months I had my iPhone 13. I had to do a factory reset and got my iCloud set up.
I read I could recover the pics even after a factory reset.
I was trying to see if this was correct.
