MacRumors reports today that the App Store has experience a bumper Christmas sales weekend and then some! They quote a Business Insider report today that has collated sales figures from the Facebook iPhone app and Disney’s Tapulous apps over the Christmas weekend. According to the figures, the Facebook iPhone and iPod touch app has seen a whopping 1.6 million rise in active users over the past three days. Tellingly, Facebook’s Android app has not experienced any such spike.

Likewise, MacRumors reports that Tapulous, the Disney-owned company responsible for the Tap Tap Revenge series of games, has also seen a massive rise in app downloads over the holiday weekend, in comparison to last year, with Tapulous telling Business Insider that peak Christmas downloads reached 45,000 per hour, with holiday download traffic doubling since last year. Much of this spike in download activity for Tapulous is probably down to the release of free app Tap Tap Revenge 4 just prior to Christmas, complete with the option to buy additional tracks and avatars in-app.
