Looking at the various facts and figures that have already emerged about Christmas day activations, AppleInsider reports that according to the early data, the combined power of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch was enough to ensure that Apple iOS activations topped Google’s Android activations by over 1.6 million units on Christmas day. Fortune’s Philip Elmer-Dewitt noted that approximately 4.2 million iOS devices were activated on Christmas Day, in comparison to the 3.7 million Android devices activated on Christmas Eve and Christmas day combined, in figures released by Google Android supremo Andy Rubin.

Pretty impressive figures for Android, even if they still fall way short of iOS figures. Basically, it was a stellar holiday period for both Apple and Google, there’s no doubt about that! AppleInsider also refers to figures released on Tuesday by Flurry Analytics, which found that iOS and Android activations together grew by 353 percent on Christmas day, topping 6.8 million units.
