Apple products have been known to be very hard to penetrate by viruses, Trojans and malware. A new report issued by McAfee – well known antivirus supplier - showcased that in very recent times, malware threats in the mobile ecosystems have grown from 792 samples in 2011 to 36,699 in 2012. The official blog stated:

“The growth of mobile malware shows no sign of slowing and this threat will likely continue to explode as mobile devices remain particularly attractive to cybercriminals and malware authors.”

And since the Android operating system allows for greater flexibility and openness, 97% of malware attacks are directed towards its direction. Malware software is used to get access to different private information such as passwords.

With the predilection of Android of attracting malware, it might be easy to understand why enterprises are offering their employees the iOS alternative. This theory explains what the study found further on. According to McAfee, 58% of businesses have taken up the Apple mobile operating system in the Q4 of 2012. The iOS experienced an increase with over 2% from the previous quarter. The numbers cover global data. In the US and Asia, the attraction for Apple is even more obvious. 62% of enterprises located in the US use the iOS while 75% abide by the same laws in Asia.

Surprisingly enough in Europe, Middle East and Africa, the hold of the iOS has dropped from 56% to 43%. On the other hand, Android gained an extra 11%.
