Installing update without transferring movies first?

what will happen if I install a new update for my iPhone on iTunes without transferring the movies to my iTunes library first? I have 3 movies on my phone and it's going to take hours upon hours to transfer them to the iTunes library. Will they be erased if I install the update without transferring them first? Is it really necessary to transfer them?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

if you use the restore function you will lose all your files on your phone so you will then have to have it in itunes to re load it onto your phone, IF you use the update function you will lose nothing.. this is the option i always take, just upgrading and never using restore unless i have a problem and have to restore.

4.3.2 atm has no jailbreak though.
