Hey people,

I have a minor annoyance with the iOS mail app:
Using gmail as my main mail account, the app pulls mails that are in the "advertisement" folder on gmail into "inbox" on my iPhone. If I log into gmail via pc those mails do not bother me because I never look into the advertisement folder. But I'd rather not have them spam my inbox on my iPhone. Preferably the app would totally ignore those mails and not even sync them (basically like the spam folder on gmail).

Thanks in advance!

Maybe you can change this behaviour in the settings of the account. Access the Gmail account through a browser. Go to your settings, and select "Labels", and there you'll find the Advertisement folder either in System Labels, or in Labels, when you scroll down further. You can decide which mailbox should be shown in IMAP. If you disable this (uncheckmark it), the folder will not appear in the Mail app on your iPhone, and hopefully the emails won't be synced either.

Or, also there in settings, go to Inbox, scroll to the bottom and select "Don't override filters".
