How to restore space on a £GS

I have an old 3GS which is jailbroken. Back when I jailbroke it, I used the ipad baseband then rolled back to another baseband so it could be unlocked with ultasn0w.

All is working well.

My son had the phone, and I want to flatten the phone and start again.

I think I have somehow, and I have a nice fresh install of 5.1.1 which has kept it's jailbreak, however the available capacity on an 8GB phone is just 3.9GB.

There are no apps, photos or music installed. How can this be and how can I fix it?

Scratch that, just re-read and it says it will keep ultrasn0w. So I have bit the bullet and gone for option 12. Wish me luck :/
