I am trying to sync my Microsoft desktop calendar with my iCloud calendar, but I am getting a message from iCloud saying "too many events, iCloud accepts a maximum of 1358 events. How do I fix this issue?

Are they all in the future? If not, limit how many past events you are syncing.

Go in to Setting>Calendar>Sync. You should see something like this page, check the one you want.

How many events do you have over two weeks?

Yet iCloud thinks it’s over 1300 events, what does Microsoft calendar or Outlook say in terms of events. And remember, that includes events going forward as well as two weeks back. It is likely that the issue is what Microsoft or Outlook is trying to do and iCloud won’t accept it. Check the settings on that end.
