how do I unlock and update this?

Hey guys I have an iphone 3gs from Rogers. firmware is 4.1

I want to know how I can unlock this to use with any carrier and I also want to update it to 5.0 or later

How would I do this and what would I do first.

Its not unlocked OR jailbroken OR updated

I want to update it to 5.0 or 5.01
And i want to unlock it

Seeing that you're sitting with the 5.14.02 BB you'll need to Update to the iPad BB of 6.15.00. Then Jailbreak w/ a custom IPSW to preserve that BB.

Well, then update to 5.0.1 via iTunes. If u want to unlock ot, you will need to ask rogers, or jailbreak
