My iPhone 4 is jailbroken and now it won't let me update on iTunes and every time I flip through pages of apps it crashes and goes into safe mode, how do I get it back to factory settings.

put it into dfu mode then use itunes to restore it

How to enter iPhone DFU mode
Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
Turn the iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone)
Hold down the sleep/power button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button
Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected

basically, if anything goes wrong with your phone, just restore the thing and rejailbreak then all will be good hopefully

I have never had to enter my phone into DFU mode to restore. I don't think that is correct????? I could be wrong but how am i restoring mine if thats the case. I think you use dfu mode when your phone is locked up or somethiung??? Somebody clear this up for me. Which way is correct?

If your having problems restoring best way to solve it is to get our phone into DFU. It stands for Device Firmware Update... ;)

So which is correct do you have to enter dfu mode first or cam you simply just connect to pc Nd hit restore and it will walk you througg the rest. What is the purpose or in want instance would you need to first pit you phone into dfu mode before connecting to pc

its mainly what jailbreakers need to do, put it in dfu mode. otherwise you can just plug it into itunes and it does the rest, if you dont rely on unlock or jailbreak then let itunes do it all...
