Google has announced a big update for its Google+ app today, referring to the app as “a mobile app with sense and soul”, and “a feast for the eyes.” Google says that it wanted to make the whole Google+ experience “more intimate, and more expressive” and so has really worked to make the app look different and vibrant, with crisper fonts, larger profile pictures, and a “friendlier” homescreen. The stream has also been made easier to scan, and now has overlays, gradients and other visual embellishments. Google adds that the update also focuses on “fun and performance”, with conversations falling into view as you move forward and backward in time, optical clues, such as parallax, to help your mind linger on individual posts, and having actions such as +1 now floating on top of the stream so that it is easier for you to flag up your faves. Google actually get quite poetic about the app in the blog post, saying that they hope it “brings you closer to the people you care about, and the stuff you’re into.”
