The Google Mobile Blog has announced today that the Google Mobile App has been updated with the facility to send push notifications from your Google account to your iPhone. Now when you have new Gmail, you’ll be alerted to the fact by an icon, and you can also set up the app to send Google Calendar event reminders directly to your iPhone or iPad home screen.

The Google Mobile team says that it has also added other “spiffy features” to the app, for example when searching for flight information, weather details, stock market information or currency conversion, you’ll see the information that you want that much quicker because the answers you’re looking for will be displayed underneath the search box before you’ve even pressed the “Search” button.

The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, and can be downloaded for free from the App Store by clicking here.
