Get out of recovery mode without computer

My mom lives 3 hours from me and she doesn't have a computer. Her iphone 3 is stuck in recovery mode. Can she get out without a computer. Tried: holding the power and home, taking out the sim, hooking it to charger. Out of ideas.

Depends on how she got it into Recovery Mode.

I think she said and was trying to update to the newest iOS.

Updating to a newer iOS via OTA wouldn't put the device into recovery loop unless it's jailbroken.

It is nearly impossible to get out of recovery mode without a working computer. You need a working computer with required tools like TinyUmbrella for required iOS version.

I just went ahead and ordered her a new iphone 4. I never solved the problem. I assume that you guys are right and it could not be solved without a computer.
