AppleInsider writes today that Apple’s headquarters in France have just been raided by a French government competition authority as part of an ongoing antitrust investigation. The raid lasted for 24 hours, and resulted in the authorities seizing documents that related to the investigation from Apple’s offices. AppleInsider says that news of the raid was first reported on by Mac4Ever last week, with LesEchos.fr confirming the news after that. Apparently the French investigators are looking into Apple’s relationship with its French distributors, as a result of a complaint filed against Apple by French Apple reseller, eBizcuss, which accused Apple of using unfair competition practices, such as favouring its own retail outlets rather than the likes of eBizcuss. According to the report, eBizcuss said that it often had a hard time getting the latest Apple devices in stock, at the same time as the official store always seemed to have plenty of stock. The French competition investigators are also looking into Apple’s iTunes App Store, for any signs that Apple is indulging in unfair digital download practices.[/FONT]
